Founded in 2005 as the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra, Moore Symphony Orchestra (MSO)

is a volunteer-led, intergenerational community symphony serving Moore County and the surrounding area. In 2026, the organization adopted the Moore Symphony Orchestra name;

an identity that more clearly reflects who we are, the community we serve, and the future

we are building together.

Each semester, MSO brings together approximately 75–80 musicians, from high school

and college students to adult community musicians. Our orchestra provides experienced musicians an opportunity to continue making music throughout their lives while giving

younger musicians the opportunity to grow through meaningful symphonic performance alongside musicians of different generations.

Participation in Moore Symphony Orchestra is completely tuition-free, helping ensure that

the opportunity to make and experience orchestral music remains accessible within our community. MSO presents two major public concerts each year. A Holiday Concert and

Spring Concert along with additional performances and community events. Concerts are presented without traditional ticket prices, allowing audiences of all ages to experience

live symphonic music while supporting the orchestra through voluntary donations.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Moore Symphony Orchestra is sustained by

the generosity of individuals, businesses, sponsors, donors, and community partners

who believe in the value of keeping symphonic music thriving in Moore County.

For more than two decades, hundreds of musicians have shared our stages, friendships

have formed across generations, students have grown into accomplished young adults,

and many musicians have returned year after year to continue making music together.

 

Our name may be new, but the orchestra behind it is not.

We are proud of the legacy that began in 2005 as Moore Philharmonic Orchestra and excited to continue that story as Moore Symphony Orchestra—Together in Symphony.
